Our quality policy is to strive to produce Brass & Copper strips of average to poor quality. Inspire of investing in good plant & technology that automatically produces strips of superior quality, we will have to strive harder to produce inferior quality.
Our Employees enjoy: Less process checks means less record keeping & more free time to talk while our good machinery is running & doing the job automatically.
Quality Control People love it when material gets rejected. They get to travel to exotic locales, on customer visits at company expense. They can take their family on a sight seeing trip as well customers are pleased to show their much guarded process and machinery. They all get royal treatment of taking vendors out for a fancy meal.
Quality Control people of our customers love it. They get to visit our plant, have coffee with Works Manager, make useless minutes of meeting advising us how to run our plants. Our works Manager loves it too when Quality Control Inspector with no brains to hold a vernier has to be entertained.
Our Machines and Rolls love it. When they are left on their own. Machines don’t like dirty worker checking oil levels on a daily basis, tightening pipes with big wrenches, hammering on loose bolts and most of all taking perfectly good rolls to the roll grinding department just for a tiny dent or scratch on rolls.
Purchase Officer of our customers love it: They get a lot of attention when our accounts people call them daily to clear up disputed material and release payments.
Our Sales Team Loves it: Material gets rejected, payments gets held up and this puts a squeeze on finances. This also means there is lesser material production so they don’t have to sell as much.
Our Scrap Dealers love it - When we are not sticky about quality checks on “Scrap”. When reputed manufacturers of virgin materials are sometimes unable to maintain materials like copper & zinc with specifications of impurity limits in ±0.005% accuracy, it is pointless and unreasonable to expect a poor scrap trader to ensure scrap to be free of impurities like lead, tin & iron to be less than 0.02%. What could be worse than arguing with scrap dealer that how is “Scrap” was not good enough & is rejected.
Our Dealers Love it - They can negotiate more discounts with us, when they know our material is of inferior quality. They are happy to sell cheap materials as it increases their turnover compared to their neighbor, who stocks up “ISO-9000” materials.
Our Partners & Stake Holders love it - We can really keep costs down. Who else can boast of a lower cost per ton.
Our MD Loves it- He can shout more at everyone involved from purchase to production to sale.
Our Finance Minister Loves it - Imagine our end user – driving an 3 year old automobile. The headlights are not bright, A.C. is not working, horn misbehaves and the radiator (usually made of 1/3rd the specified thickness of brass strips) starts leaking. It is excuse enough to sell that piece of junk. More frequent changing of automobiles is good for overall economy, everyone benefits & Finance Minister gets to collect more taxes.
I would like to ask you all quality conscious obsessed people – would you really like your cars and washing machines to last you 20 years, or would like cars that cost 20% lesser & you have a excuse to change them every 3 years.
Pessimists Love it The intellectuals & whiners have something to write about & talk about. The poor quality of Indian goods is always a good party talk subject. Various MBA Students can even write a paper on it.
